This was my second outing with Palmetto Fossil Excursions and it once again did NOT disappoint. I am an avid beach comber in the Charleston area for shark teeth, but finding megs and larger teeth when beach combing is difficult. You can find hundreds of teeth that way, but not as many large ones. Some of the largest teeth in my collection have come from Palmetto’s Lightning Site. Today I found a MASSIVE meg that was nearly in tact! It is missing a tiny bit, but it’s gorgeous and I found it and dug it out all by myself. Luke was so supportive and helpful. He cheered me on and helped me identify the most promising spots. He also found half of a huge meg, that he gave to me, and half of a smaller meg, which he also gifted me. It was a productive day and I was very happy. I found some nice non-teeth fossils I decided to take home, too. If you want hundreds of teeth, don’t come to the lightning site, but if you want a chance at BIG teeth, come here! My first trip was also productive for big teeth!
